What are learning styles?

Picture this scene.

Four children are gathered together. One child sits reading a book, a second gazes at the pictures, a third takes the book apart to see how it was bound together and a fourth reads for a short while, then goes off to ride a bike. They are all learning in their own natural style.

Now fast forward in time

The same children have now grown up and are attending the same meeting. The first adult is discussing ideas, the second is taking time to reflect and get the picture, the third wants to sort out the practical details and the fourth is bored and wants to get a move on.

Do you recognise yourself (or anyone else) in any of these characters? The Mercury Model identifies these differences and many more.
